When your mom works at the public library, you read many different books. But they belong to the library and must be returned. We own many picture books and easy readers. But we didn’t have any non-library chapter books until yesterday.
For graduation, I bought ML a variety of beginning chapter books. When she opened the present, she asked, “Do I have to return them to the library? Yea! I have my very own Flat Stanley book”
What beginning chapter books are a hit at your house?
Aww, my kids can empathize. I’m always returning their library books before they are ready to part with them.
Our favorite early chapter books are Henry and Mudge, Mr. Putter and Tabby, Sideways Stories from Wayside School, Roscoe Riley Rules, Franny K Stein, and Bad Kitty.
Thanks for the recommendations. I wasn’t familiar with Roscoe Riley Rules or Franny K Stein. I just read Roscoe Riley Rules: Never Race a Runaway Pumpkin. It’s pretty funny. A Franny K. Stein book is on the way from another library. I know ML will love to read about a female mad scientist.
The new Fancy Nancy chapter books have been some of my daughter’s favorites (Nancy Clancy super slueth). Both kids love(d) magic tree house.
ML loves the Magic Treehouse. I’ll check out some of the Fancy Nancy chapter books. I think they will be a hit. Other friends have recommended Mercy Watson and Ivy & Bean.
Ava loves the Magic Treehouse series.
